Health and Safety Manager
Growing, international producer of industrial and food grade products is adding a Health and Safety Manager to their team.  We offer a positive, supportive environment and work together to produce high quality products we are proud to provide to our customers.  This position will work onsite at our manufacturing facility during normal business hours, with the occasional need field calls for urgent matters.  A small amount of regional travel needed.
The Health and Safety Manager plays a key role in providing direction and guidance to the our plants and associated sites in CA and AZ. This position ensures that the plants are in full compliance with all applicable health and safety regulatory and company requirements with their operations, including permit conditions.
The Health and Safety Manager is expected to create an environment that promotes communication and collaboration around safety across all departments, while empowering front-line ownership of decision-making and compliance.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate an aptitude for authentic leadership, building positive relationships, and a willingness to go above and beyond to foster a safety focused culture. This role requires a passion for safety, customer service, and effectively coaching teams to be focused on our values and lifesaving rules.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and develop overall planning and assist engineering in the installation of equipment or modifications of equipment relating to Health and Safety.
  • Develops and delivers Health and Safety training to all personnel as required by regulations and by company standards and procedures.
  • Perform training to all employees on Health and Safety programs including but not limited to MSHA Part 46, Fall Protection, Confined Space etc.
  • Complete and submit all regulatory forms and reports in an accurate and timely manner to be 100% compliant to local, state, and federal laws.
  • Provide a communication interface with Federal and State regulators, including but not limited to Cal OSHA Mining and Tunneling, MSHA and other agencies.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, drive towards a world–class employee safety culture by implementing safety systems, policies and procedures, safety campaigns, and programs by improving employee safe behaviors and eliminating, preventing, or controlling hazards/unsafe conditions.
  • Drives incident prevention strategies and evaluates, educates, and responds to predictive behaviors.
  • Detail events investigation – Root Cause Analysis and implementation of corrections – improvements plan to reduce the probability of future events.
  • Promote leading indicator reporting.
  • Experience with Behavioral Based Safety programs.
  • Serve as the technical expert and support implementation of the corporate QSHE systems necessary to compliance activities and the tracking/reporting of Health and Safety performance metrics and trends.
  • Experience with Industrial Hygiene policies, programs, and regulations.
  • Ensure all safety requirements, pursuant to Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations, and Cal OSHA Mining and Tunneling are met at the facility and quarries.
  • Fulfill all applicable governmental and/or insurance carrier record keeping and reporting requirements relative to health and safety (i.e., accidents, training) compliance.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of MSHA, hazard communication, workers compensation law, and emergency response.
  • Develop and maintain ISO 14000 and ISO 45001 systems.
  • Maintain our “Social license to Operate” by working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned, we are committed to continuous improvement in occupational safety/health, environmental protection, and quality management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a 4-year degree, preferably in Safety or Engineering with 5-10 years professional experience. Candidates without a degree but having exceptional and relevant industry experience will also be considered.
Working knowledge in the broad areas of occupational health and safety, regulation, as well as computer skills.
