Location: Rochester, NH (Hybrid)
Title: Sr. Controls Engineer

Our client specializes in designing, manufacturing, and integrating custom automation systems for industries such as Medical, Security, Aerospace, Automotive, Hi-Tech, and Plastics. 
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks such as process control, troubleshooting, motion control, and robotics, ensuring the seamless operation of custom automation systems and machinery.
Summary:
  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplined engineering team to design custom automation machinery within the medical device and biotechnology space.
  •  Translate customer’s requirements into design specifications, evaluate design feasibility and provide technical expertise to meet customer’s requests.
  • Provide the programming for the PLC, safety systems, and layout the HMI display.
  • Source and program motors, drives, actuators, robots, vision systems, sensors, servo controls, etc.
  • Responsible for full system programming, testing, debugging, commissioning, installation, service, and upgrades.
  • Execute complete electrical designs, create professional electrical schematics and panel layouts
  • Create and maintain detailed bill of materials for accuracy (quantities, part #’s, etc.).
  • Write technical manuals for manufacturing personnel and customers.
  • Stay up to date with leading edge technology.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across entire organization.
  • Your efforts will support equipment for a variety of industries, such as medical, automotive, packaging, hi-tech, security, manufacturing, etc.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven programming skills in PLC’s, HMI displays, and safety systems. Core platforms include Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Siemens. Other platforms include B&R and Beckhoff.
  • System level approach to the complete machine program with a high focus on recovery from start to finish.
  • Experience in robotics, automation systems, vision systems, proximity and photo sensors, servo controls, etc.
  • Competent skills with PC’s, networking, device communications, integration, and design.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical component selection and panel layout design including materials, safety, and labeling practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for working with customers and team members. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, customers, and general public.
  • The individual must be able to investigate different types of hardware and software to keep the machine designs current with the ever-changing technology.
  • Knowledge in mechanical mechanisms, motion, and assembly.

EDUCATION:
  • BSEE or BSEET with 5+ years’ experience in industrial automation and controls development and commissioning.
  • ASEE or ASEET with 10+ years’ experience in industrial automation and controls development and commissioning.
  • Candidates with other degrees and appropriate experience will be considered (Associates Engineering Robotics and Automation Controls or Associates Degree in Electronics).
