Apex Systems is looking for Synthesis Technicians in the Richmond, VA area!
Title: 
Synthesis Technician

Duration: Starting at 6 months to hire

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

Location: Richmond, VA

 

Job Summary

Are you passionate about organic synthesis and eager to contribute to groundbreaking R&D projects? Join our dynamic team where you’ll perform organic synthesis and analysis, conduct industry-specific laboratory tests, and support innovative projects with your keen analytical skills.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Safety First: Participate in safety-related activities and stay updated on company, industry, and government safety procedures and regulations.
  2. Organic Synthesis & Analysis: Support component development programs through organic synthesis and analysis, contributing to process development.
  3. Laboratory Testing: Perform industry and client-specific laboratory tests using established procedures, and assist in developing and modifying tests as needed.
  4. Data Analysis: Complete preliminary analysis and interpretation of test results, prepare reports, and communicate findings to relevant parties within agreed timelines.
  5. Equipment Operation: Operate specialized test equipment accurately, ensuring reproducibility, and maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  6. Inventory Management: Purchase and maintain an adequate inventory of samples and lab supplies, keeping the work area neat, clean, and safe.
  7. Technical Expertise: Maintain and enhance technical expertise through training and seminars as directed by management.
  8. Formulation Development: Blend components and develop or modify formulations to meet objectives, analyzing various blends and base stocks.
  9. Non-Standard Procedures: Perform non-standardized laboratory procedures independently or with guidance from experienced personnel.
  10. Client Representation: Represent the end client with customers and industry organizations as directed by management, and train other personnel as necessary.
  11. ISO Documentation: Ensure complete ISO documentation is maintained for all ISO or quality-related activities and participate in ISO-related activities.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Additive Chemistry: Understand the chemical nature of component technology and its impact on performance.
  • Organic Synthesis: Conduct a range of organic synthesis reactions under supervision, contributing to the development process.
  • Decision Making: Make timely decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment, even under tight deadlines.
  • Analysis & Problem Solving: Solve complex problems with effective solutions, utilizing all appropriate tools.
  • Communication: Communicate information clearly and effectively in an engaging manner.
  • Managing Performance: Achieve challenging goals with drive and focus.
  • Collaboration & Networking: Work across organizational boundaries to achieve business objectives through engaging interactions.
  • Project Management: Manage tasks and activities to completion within the agreed framework.
  • Innovation: Generate breakthrough solutions and critically assess new concepts.
  • Test Development & Execution: Develop and apply testing to demonstrate product performance and improve development efficiency.
  • Basic Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Safe Lab Practices: Demonstrate understanding and application of safe lab practices and procedures.
