Job Description:

Summary: The Test Engineer will oversee the development and testing of automotive power electronics and electric traction system components for fuel cell and hybrid vehicles. Responsibilities include monitoring test processes, tracking product changes, and modifying tests and equipment to ensure proper fault coverage.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and evaluate test systems for fuel cell and hybrid vehicle electronic subassemblies, focusing on power conversion.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate software modifications and issues for TECH 2 core software releases.
  • Validate software for the DSD Vehicle Communications group.
  • Document and communicate problems/issues identified during validation and verification.
  • Use VLT, CAT, or other serial data tools to evaluate, diagnose, and resolve serial data communication issues.
  • Create electrical design schematics and some mechanical drawings for test systems.
  • Automate tests using LabVIEW programming language.
  • Create serial data reports and software release memos.
  • Complete special assignments related to TECH 2 support.
  • Schedule work, vehicles, and testing around available resources.
  • Communicate project status through oral presentations and written reports.
  • Design and deliver both automated and manual functional test equipment.
  • Provide technical direction for engineering support personnel.
  • Attend product development team meetings to review product design, specifications, and schedule requirements.
  • Research new technologies and techniques.
  • Possible local travel.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive engineering with engine, transmission, or drive unit knowledge.
  • Demonstrated drive for results.
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others.
  • Ability to prioritize work and resources, and work independently with minimal direction.
  • Proficient with computer and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results.
  • Experience in presenting results to leadership.
  • Ability to travel as required for offsite testing (less than 15%).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with AVL PUMA/IndiCom and ETAS INCA software.
  • Exposure to propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environments.
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience with engine, transmission, or drive unit testing, calibration, or hardware development.
  • Experience with engine dyno setup and testing.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Work Schedule: 1st shift, M-F, 8am-5pm. Occasional remote support on weekends may be required
