Job Description:
Join our dynamic team as a Senior Systems Administrator, where you’ll support a critical digital modernization program for Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. In this role, you’ll deploy new Windows and Linux servers in Azure, maintain and enhance cloud infrastructure, and provide day-to-day support for troubleshooting Linux/Windows cloud systems and servers. This position requires technical expertise in administering the full lifecycle of Linux and Windows platforms as code.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Engineering Support: Perform best practice engineering support for an Azure Cloud environment consisting of Windows and Linux servers.
  • Server Management: Build, configure, patch, and maintain Windows and Linux servers via Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Ansible Automation Platform, or other automation platforms.
  • Application Management: Perform application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control utilizing Jira, GitLab, IaC, and Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Technical Consultation: Provide advice, technical consultation, and guidance for Tier 3 / Tier 4 support by analyzing and resolving problems and evaluating alternative means of satisfying user requirements.
  • Security and Maintenance: Research, test, and deploy security patches and vulnerability remediation changes.
  • System Support: Provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex IT systems.
  • Automation: Perform automation tasks through scripting and testing.
  • Reporting: Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, and resolution steps) for root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Actively identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations aimed at enhancing user experience, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Security Enforcement: Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging your knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4-8 years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance (US Citizenship required).
  • Experience building, configuring, patching, and maintaining Windows and Linux servers.
  • Experience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilizing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and leveraging automation platforms such as Ansible or Azure Functions.
  • Understanding and experience with Azure Cloud services.
  • Knowledge of basic networking and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, SSH, VPNs).
  • Hands-on experience reviewing and analyzing system logs and events to resolve issues.
  • Experience maintaining Entra ID and/or Microsoft Active Directory environments.
  • Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements (NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security+ or CISSP.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security+ or CISSP.
  • Recognized cloud certification such as Azure Administrator.
  • Experience building and delivering IaaS servers and platforms via IaC.
  • Experience deploying and scaling Azure Virtual Desktop environments via Azure Functions or other automation platforms.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining complex virtual infrastructures with web/application tiers and data tiers.
