Job Title: Analyst, Data Lineage & Control

Location: Halifax, Canada

Job Purpose: The Analyst, Data Lineage & Control is responsible for documenting all aspects of the data lineage lifecycle from the original source to the point of consumption, including any associated data transformations. This role involves maintaining relationships with various business and IT stakeholders to understand and communicate details of data lineage.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Data Lineage Documentation: Document the lineage of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) from the originating source to the point of consumption, including business processes, systems, filters, transformations, risks, and controls.
  • Relationship Management: Collaborate with Data Management Offices, Data Custodians, and Data Stewards to understand and implement data lineage reporting standards and best practices.
  • Process Optimization: Leverage and share data lineage artifacts to avoid duplication of effort and identify opportunities to optimize data lineage capture and documentation processes.
  • Team and Delivery Management: Assist in capturing data lineage for new CDEs and validate existing documentation annually. Support the development of Data Lineage within the team.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in data lineage capture or equivalent experience working with data. Experience handling and deriving information from large data sets.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, understanding of retail and commercial banking policies, and proficiency in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Education: Post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • Additional Skills: Familiarity with data manipulation and analysis tools (Excel, Visio, SQL, Python), data governance and metadata management tools (Collibra), and agile methodology (Jira).
