Each quarter, Apex Systems’ Grants for Good program awards a nonprofit organization a $1,250 grant.
It’s an important way for our consultants, clients, and Apex to contribute to nonprofits and positively impact the communities where we live, serve, and work.
We are proud to announce 2024’s Q2 Grants for Good winner is A1 Boxing Fitness Academy.
The Awarded Organization
We are excited to highlight A1 Boxing in our Grants for Good Spotlight, an inspiring initiative that has served as a beacon of hope for at-risk youth in Aurora, Colorado, since its establishment by Glenn Goodson in 2005. This program leverages the discipline and structure of boxing to provide young individuals with a fighting chance against negative influences. Through its deep-rooted community engagement, A1 Boxing doesn't just teach boxing; it instills values such as responsibility, discipline, and a sense of community, making a profound difference in the lives it touches.

Who Nominated Them and How They Are Involved
Rita Lewis, an Apex consultant, has been deeply involved in the A1 Boxing Fitness Academy through various roles. She has actively participated in their boxing shows and events, dedicating 140 hours to coordinating and executing tasks ranging from marketing to legal support. Additionally, Rita has played an instrumental role in mentoring underserved youth at the Academy, contributing 22 hours towards enhancing their social skills and supporting their academic needs.
Rita's commitment to the Academy extends to training sessions, where she inspires and encourages young participants, leveraging her background as a practicing attorney to exemplify the potential for success. Her total volunteer hours include additional time providing marketing assistance as well as reviewing legal documents such as the Academy’s lease contracts.

The impact of A1 Boxing on individual lives and the wider community is profound and multifaceted. The program boasts a commendable retention rate, with participants exhibiting marked advancements in self-confidence, self-esteem, and behavior. The success stories emanating from A1 Boxing are numerous, with participants achieving significant personal and professional milestones, further illustrating the value of the program's approach to shaping productive, empowered individuals.
