Senior Communications Network Engineer
Apex Systems is hiring for a Senior Communications Network Engineer with a large government client supporting the Navy & Marine Corps in Norfolk, VA! This position requires a currently active, DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance.

Location: 100% on-site in Norfolk, VA
Contract: Long-term rolling
Schedule: M-F
Hours: You will work in collaboration with the Hawaii team, need candidates open to working Hawaii day hours


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Active, DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelors degree in IT-related field AND 4+ years of hands-on network engineering experience (will accept 4 additional years of experience in Lieu of degree)
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • One of the following IAT Level III Compliant Certifications: CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification (or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment)
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide Information Assurance Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and thought leadership for the largest Intranet in the world. A qualified candidate for this position would be responsible for network design, integration, test, security, and implementation of Transport Services for the as-fielded NMCI network.
  • Collaborates with Network Domain Architects to define and/or continuously improve:
    • Audits and Reviews STIG compliant configuration baselines, versioning, and compliance tracking.
    • Test and Validate Automation and best practice insertion opportunities.
    • Leads development of SOPs/TTPs.
    • Continuous Service Improvements (CSI).
    • System performance tuning and enhancements.
    • Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP).
  • Extensive knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, Network and Security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements.
  • Plans and executes network upgrades and maintenance activities with the NMCI Operations Manager, NOC Lead, Release Management team and other key stakeholders.
  • Tier III escalation support and vendor engagement supporting Incident Management activities.
  • Active participation in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience providing support to the NMCI program is highly desired.
  • Experience with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager (CPPM) identity management solution.
  • Advanced/Professional level vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto).
  • Demonstrated NET/SEC DevOps experience.
  • ITIL v3/v4 certification/training.
  • Agile certifications or applicable experience.

  • + $4.57/hr added to your hourly wage for every hour you work within a 40 hour work week
