Environmental Specialist
We are seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Eminence, KY location. This role will provide technical support to achieve, maintain, and document compliance with environmental regulatory requirements. The Environmental Specialist ensures all related tasks are completed in compliance with Company, State, and Federal regulations.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation of the facilitys Wastewater Treatment System, including:
    • Calibration of the control instrumentation.
    • Procurement of treatment chemicals and reagents.
    • Disposal of residual sludge.
    • Collection of performance samples and coordination of analysis by external laboratories.
    • Completion and submission of discharge monitoring reports and other required reporting.
    • Scheduling maintenance for the treatment system.
  • Oversee the disposal of Universal waste, as well as hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials, including:
    • Routine scheduling of waste removal.
    • Recordkeeping, periodic certification, and generation of regulatory reports.
    • Arranging accommodations for special projects.
    • Investigating alternatives to disposal options, including opportunities for pollution prevention, waste minimization, and recycling.
  • Conduct weekly facility inspections, document findings, and arrange for and monitor the progress of clean-up/remediation of problem areas.
  • Provide training for employees on waste handling, chemical hazards, pollution prevention, and waste minimization.
  • Observe all safety rules and maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to make decisive and sound judgments under pressure.
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the proven ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist or a similar position in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • 4-year degree in Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
