Job Title: Industrial Hygiene (IH) / Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist

Department: Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

Reports to: Director of EHS

Location: West Deptford, NJ (onsite)

Role Overview: The IH/EHS Specialist is a key player in ensuring the safety and compliance of our clients USA’s operations. This role involves a hands-on approach to maintaining and enhancing EHS standards across the facility, with a focus on industrial hygiene and safety program development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce EHS policies and programs, focusing on industrial hygiene and safety.
  • Offer industrial hygiene support, including sampling and solution identification, and oversee health and safety initiatives.
  • Tackle complex EHS challenges with innovative and analytical problem-solving.
  • Set objectives and devise methods for new EHS projects.
  • Engage in the implementation of ISO standards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NJDEP regulations through proactive plant floor engagement and corrective action planning.
  • Collaborate with the Environmental Engineer to evaluate environmental impact assessments.
  • Manage hazardous waste operations, including characterization, inspections, and personnel training.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene projects, such as air and water quality testing and indoor environment assessments.
  • Execute environmental compliance audits, including:
    • DPCC/SPCC inspections.
    • Permit compliance reviews for air and water.
    • Waste storage and disposal oversight.
    • Chemical and pollution control equipment checks.
  • Participate in incident investigations and monitor the progress of corrective measures.
  • Assist with EHS planning, safety inspections, and sampling strategies.
  • Analyze environmental data and recommend compliance strategies.
  • Actively participate in safety training sessions and meetings.
  • Uphold a culture of safety and ethical compliance in all job functions.
  • Maintain a secure working environment and perform additional duties as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry).
  • At least 5 years of experience in EHS roles, with a focus on environmental and safety auditing, and industrial hygiene.
  • Proficient in data analysis and management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with EHS management software.
  • Knowledgeable about interactions and compliance with regulatory bodies like OSHA, EPA, and NJDEP.
