Position: Construction Engineer
Location: Chandler, AZ
30 Month Contract 
Targeted Years of Experience:
 5-7 years

Job Summary: Manage construction activities related to the development of multiple, simultaneous network infrastructure projects. This includes overseeing the RFQ/RFP process, contract process, sealed bids, distributing bid packages, coordinating bid walks, awarding projects, monitoring progress, providing regular status updates, and resolving issues. Provide financial management of projects from initial proposal/bid through to the receipt of the final product or service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage construction activities from initial site design visit through completed drawings, including drawing review for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical feasibility.
  • Provide financial management of projects from initial proposal/bid through to the final product or service.
  • Establish quality assurance methods, procedures, standards, and technical training related to site design and construction.
  • Evaluate new products, services, and vendors, weighing pros and cons including impact to the system, costs, compatibility, ease of use, reliability, and timing parameters.
  • Interface with internal and external departments as well as regulatory agencies to obtain building permits, conduct construction inspections, and secure certificates of occupancy for network facilities.
  • Provide team leadership and guidance, fostering individual/team growth and development.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by responding to emails promptly, actively participating in meetings, explaining issues clearly, providing updates, maintaining records, and understanding the impact of the job on the overall business.

Daily Activities:

  • Schedule and financial management.
  • Interfacing with vendors via calls and meetings.
  • Attention to detail, sense of urgency, and wireless network (cell site) construction experience.
  • Technical aptitude with computers to navigate tools.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Technologically savvy with a sense of urgency.
  • 3-7 years of wireless network management experience, preferably with knowledge of construction.
  • Team player with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of groups.
  • Knowledge of working with Ericsson/Nokia, DC plant design, and general construction knowledge.
  • Knowledge of fiber installation and standards.
  • Experience in telecommunications/data networking or wireless industry.
  • Fuze and other internal systems and tools experience.
  • Knowledge in cellular design and construction, including macro and small cell construction.

Desired Skills:

  • Solid understanding of telecom networking, networks and technologies, equipment designs and configuration procedures, and inventory.
  • Strong technical and project management skills.
  • Excellent PC and software application skills, including Windows and Google Suite products.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities to successful completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong track record of leadership and management.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with partners to establish project designs, scope, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules for each project, actively managing scheduled tasks with outside vendors.
  • Analyze implications of changes from the original schedule and take corrective actions to ensure the project stays on track.
  • Provide regular project status reports to management and the project team.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of the issuance of RFQs and the evaluation of responses, providing detailed analysis and recommendations.
  • Request and manage budgetary funding requests and purchase orders for projects.
  • Lead new or large program deployments, onboard new vendors, and provide guidance to junior engineers.
  • Utilize FUZE, Ops Tracker, PeopleSoft, UneFi, and various Microsoft and Google applications.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in aspects of construction, modification, or equipment configurations.
