Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our consulting practice has an opening for a Governance Project Manager who will assist in standardizing project management methodologies for a Top Five Bank.
Client: Big 5 Bank
Location:  Hybrid; 1- 2 days a week in Toronto
Terms: 6 Month Contract, Strong possibility of extension or converting fulltime based on project budget & candidate performance.
Hours: 37.5 hours/week Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Governance Project Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for standardizing project management methodologies across our portfolio, ensuring compliance with governance standards, and providing valuable insights through data analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities:
  • Portfolio Management:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that align with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee the overall portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
    • Conduct regular portfolio reviews and provide insights to executive leadership.
    • Analyze project financials, including historical spending and forecasting.
  • Project Governance:
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of governance processes and identify areas for improvement.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize governance-related risks.
    • Standardize project management methodologies and ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
    • Assist project teams in creating and maintaining project artifacts.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and ensure adherence to governance standards.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Collect and analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
    • Prepare insightful reports and presentations for executive leadership.
    • Support decision-making by providing data-driven recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Coordinate with project managers, stakeholders, and executive leadership to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Facilitate governance committee meetings and document key decisions and actions.
    • Provide guidance and support to business units in implementing governance best practices.
    • Prepare for and facilitate steering committee meetings.
    • Gather and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager or Portfolio Manager, with experience with strategic planning and strategy development, large-scale change management and communications in support of business objectives.
    • Experience in the financial services and technology environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with the practices, procedures and principles of project and portfolio management.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
