Job Title: Scrum Master

Location: San Antonio, TX – 4 days on site, 1 day remote
Client Type: Oil & Gas
Contract Duration: 6 months (with high probability of extensions)
Rate: up to $65/hr. (based on experience)
Position Summary
The Scrum Master (SM) will focus on building out data products within the IDP (Insights and Discovery Platform) for the client’s finance and supply chain groups. Initially helping in a PM capacity while figuring out project details, with potential to transition into a full scrum master role. The SM will work closely with the onsite consultants who are building the data products, ensuring alignment and coordination.
A successful candidate will possess exceptional communication skills with particular emphasis on facilitating discussions and driving for consensus, often among highly diverse participants and interests. A successful candidate must be able to gain trust and build confidence with all team members and senior leadership to establish effective collaboration.
Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and facilitate adoption of agile standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Ensure that all meetings are positive, productive, stay on topic, and are kept within the timebox.
  • Communicate with leaders across the organization to ensure transparency into delivery progress, challenges, and risks.
  • Coach the team to improve collaboration and self-management, promoting healthy interactions both within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • Utilize team feedback and metrics (e.g., quality, delivery, cadence, etc.) to identify areas of opportunity and work with team to continuously improve.
  • Organize and facilitate agile activities and ceremonies including daily stand-up meetings, iteration reviews, retrospectives, iteration and release planning, and product backlog refinement sessions.
  • Collaborate closely with the product owner to manage the backlog.
  • Effectively manage user story estimation and forecasting.
  • Proactively identify and resolve impediments to team progress.
  • Represent the team at broader planning and coordination sessions (e.g., Scrum of Scrums).
  • Experiment with new practices and frameworks to improve team outcomes.
  • Contribute to the advancement and improvement of agile practices within the organization.
 
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
  • 3+ years of experience with agile development
  • Agile Certifications (Scrum Alliance, Scaled Agile Framework, Kanban, etc.)
  • Experience using agile delivery tools for managing progress and for reporting and analytics (Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, planning and execution skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Practical in approach to decision making and problem-solving that is principle-based.
  • Exposure and understanding of existing and new and emerging technologies.
